This is funny. My first sheltie, Remy, hated dirt and I was so glad. My current sheltie doesn’t dig, but getting dirty in other ways doesn’t bother her that much.

I don’t think we are supposed to understand our Shelties, just love them for their silliness. I know I never understood any of mine. But they do make our lives interesting, don’t they?
