Ginger: VA Sheltie Rescue

Ginger is a sweet, gentle Sheltie who sadly has been lingering in foster care for some time. Let’s help her find her forever home!

Ginger came to NVSR very obese, and since then her foster mom has helped her shed a few pounds.  Her adopter must monitor her diet closely to help continue slimming her to a more girlish figure. :)

Ginger is 15 inches tall, currently 32 pounds, and 12 years young.

Ginger especially likes to follow her foster mom around the house and sleep on a dog bed nearby. She would prefer to be an only dog but lives peacefully with three kitties in her foster home. In typical Sheltie fashion she loves an ear and rump scratch whenever offered! At night she likes to sleep on a comfy dog bed in the bedroom and in nice weather she likes to explore in the fenced dog yard.

Ginger loves her walks and is very good on a leash.  She also is great with children of all ages.  She is an all-around sweetie! If you might be interested in adopting Ginger, please read their adoption FAQ section and then send a note to: apply@NVSR.org.  Tell them Sheltie Nation sent you!

  1. So hoping Ginger is adopted. She deserves a best friend even in her golden years!

  2. We are a populous Nation here at Sheltie Nation. Won’t someone please open their hearts and homes to this sweet 12 year old so her retirement years are golden?

Fingers crossed Ginger finds her new family soon.

  3. Ginger is so pretty ,and I am hoping to hear some loving person adopts her real soon…..She deserves a caring and loving family to call her own..I would take her in a heartbeat if I could!

  4. This just breaks my heart. I wish I could adopt this sweetheart, but I just adopted my last Sheltie, which gives us two, and that is all we can handle (we are disabled) at this time. I simply cannot understand how anyone with any heart at all can give up a Sheltie. I pray God will send someone with a big heart to take her home and give her all the love she deserves.

  5. WHAT A BEAUTY – WISH I HAD ENOUGH ROOM TO TAKE HER. I PRAY SOMEONE OUT THERE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE HER INTO THEIR HOME AND HEART, GINGER DESERVES NO LESS. BLESS HER.
