Harrison

Divine Love In the Shape of a Sheltie

01/03/2016 -

06/13/2024

We visited many puppies before Harrison, but none had that special connection that was so apparent in the first few minutes of meeting him. He seemed to know us already, and despite just meeting us, seemed ready to come along with us. We were excited for this new little addition to the family, but had no idea how truly special the next 8 years with this little orange angel would be.

Harrison made us laugh every single day. He gave us comfort. He was company on adventures big and small. He made sure we got out of the house, restoring that connection each of us has with nature. He revered life and observed all of its forms, from flowers and trees to birds to snakes with gentle fascination. He loved walks, sweet potato treats, evening drives, and afternoon naps. Harrison preferred the cool tile of the foyer or the hearth to any of his actual beds. He was very vocal, and insisted on driving out anyone who passed in front of the house (even if under different circumstances, they would be considered friends). He enjoyed a daily game of laser, often following a rotisserie chicken dinner. He was incredibly smart and seemed to understand many things we would say. He was very, very loved by each member of his family and quickly charmed many people who met him. He had a beautiful and lush sable coat, medium floppy ears that bounced as he walked, and was a little bigger than most Shelties.

Harrison crossed the rainbow bridge a little sooner than we expected due to CKD. But in the few weeks leading up to his passing, it’s as if Harrison knew and he made sure to spend a lot of time with each of us. A year later, it’s still difficult. But we are extremely grateful and feel very lucky to have known this very special little being and have had him in our lives for as long as we did. Rest in peace, Harrison. And thank you for everything.
