You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us. ~Robert Louis Stevenson, Scottish novelist

Good dogs never die

They live in our hearts always

Wish mine was here though.

I just lost my beautiful boy yesterday after 10 years of being his mom. The picture of Dallas is so beautiful and peaceful. I guess time helps heal the soul but in the meantime, just know so many of us Sheltie owners are going through or have been (this is my 3rd Sheltie) on this journey and for me, it is no easier the 3rd time either. My deepest condolences to you and may time heal to the point where all you can do is smile when you think of all the wonderful memories Dallas gave you. Virtual Hugs.

Oh, NO! Another Sheltie gone to the Bridge? Dear Vanessa, I’m crying right along with you. I know you miss your sweet baby — I’m going to leave him a candle right now. I miss Dallas every single day. The tears don’t come every day now — like they did at first — but when they come, I’m a mess. Probably doesn’t help that we’re all cooped up inside during this pandemic either.

May your fond memories of Sweet Dallas help mend your heart. Dallas loved you equally and you are blessed to have memories of his smiles and loving eyes that adored you every day. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much, Beverly! He was as sweet as that picture indicates. I know he felt loved, and I look forward to one day reuniting with him at the Rainbow Bridge. In the meantime, when the time is right, I’ll probably succumb to the draw of another Sheltie — they’re just so precious!

“We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.” – Irving Townsend

    Too Soon but loved forever!

Thank you, Katybeth, for leaving a candle for my sweet boy! Your words are so true, and Townsend’s quote is perfect.

My darling boy, I feel like someone has ripped the heart right out of my chest. I still can’t believe you’re gone. I thought I was prepared — after all, you were diagnosed with kidney disease a whole year ago — but losing you was devastating. The house is empty. No more Sheltie beneath me as I do the things I do daily. No more Sheltie smiles, no more wagging tail. I’m dogless for the first time in 13 years, and I miss you! Wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge, my angel. Until we meet again.

What a beautiful tribute Debbie for your beloved Dallas.
All the quotes are so appropriate and meaningful at this sad time.
The picture is just lovely of Dallas looking so sweet in his slumber.
Until you meet again, may your heart be full of fond memories to sustain you.

    Blessings,
    Gloria

Gloria, thanks so much for leaving a candle for my Sheltie angel. It’s so hard losing a dog — especially a “soul-dog” — and those of us who are grieving truly appreciate the virtual hugs and love extended to us. He was a sweet boy, that’s for sure!
