Grace earned the nickname “Grace The Adventure Sheltie” because she did everything with us for most of her life. She loved agility and was successful in Obedience, earning a CD and working on a CDX. Her last year she learned AKC Scent Work and finished her Novice title. We were ready to start Advanced when she became ill with small-cell lymphoma, and did not recover.
She went hiking and on many RV trips, crossing the U.S. multiple times, spent half a year in Yellowstone helping manage a campground, and crisscrossed Alaska and Canada, sometimes traveling by ferry. She charmed everyone she met, from campgrounds. RV rallies, rest areas and scenic pull-offs. She learned to make a beeline for tour buses to get attention from travelers. When visiting friends and relatives’ homes, she never failed to make a positive impression with her friendliness and good manners.
She spent several years pre-Covid as a Volunteer Pet Companion for Hospice, where she lavished attention and cuddles on her patients. It was interesting because, although she had a wonderful disposition, she was not particularly cuddly with us. But when visiting a patient, she would happily crawl in bed with them or sit on their laps for as long as they wanted her.
In addition, she was a valuable canine companion and teacher for the many foster Shelties who went through our home over the years.
In general, Grace was a superb Ambassador for her breed..
If love alone could have saved her, she would still be with us. Say “hi” to Penny and our other kids – Reggie, and the two Harries — across the Bridge. We will hopefully meet again.

Thank you. She was certainly perfect to me.
Miss you every day. I know you touched many other lives besides mine. You received so many cards and donations to MAF and BirchBark in your memory.
