Romo
Happiest Dog We Ever Knew

Our boys were getting older and wanted one more puppy, before they left for college and the like.
Our puppy was born on Super Bowl day, and we brought him home, on a snowy day that May.
We’re huge Cowboys fans, the boys named him, named him after Tony Romo. Our new family member came into a house with another Sheltie, and a cat. We soon found Romo has the best demeanor. He had the best smile, we’d ever seen and wagged his tail, almost nonstop. A welcome quirk, he never barked in the house. Never. Not one time. Outside, he barked plenty.
Romo loved his Milk Bone treat before bedtime, never met a stranger, and learned new things, on just about the first time.
He was diagnosed with chronic right side heart failure almost 3 months ago,. He responded very well to meds and his visit to his doctor last week, was called the best, since all this began. He was fine Friday morning, but mid-afternoon, he was getting sicker and sicker by the minute. We took him to our emergency vet clinic, where hope was slim. We finally said goodbye later that night. It was that fast.
Romo was our 5th Sheltie, in almost 40 years. We really love the breed and all of our babies have been something special. I never want to be without a Sheltie.
We’re really missing Romo now. So, is Romo’s dog sister and and cat brother. Thanks for reading.

My sincere condolences on your loss of your beloved Romo. I lost my precious Buddy on March 29th and I understand your pain. Hold on to your happy memories of your little boy running and playing in the sun, and know that he will run from the Rainbow Bridge to greet you when your time comes.
So sorry for your loss. We lost our Shelby to heart failure in August at just 10. She lost her battle very quickly too even though we had been monitoring her murmur for 6 years so I sympathize with your loss very deeply and know it’s hard when it’s sudden. Hugs to you and I know my Shelby was there to meet Romo and they are playing in heaven. ???
Thank you! I had never heard of this in Shelties. I’m floored with the speed of it all. Romo was 9 and we only heard about a murmur, until last year. I had almost forgotten about it. We were thankful, that we had another three months with him. There were really good ones.
