Adopt a Sheltie
Virginia Sheltie Rescue: Lily
Lily is looking for her forever home. She has diabetes and requires a little bit of extra tender loving care, but you wouldn't know she has it. Her real issue is a serious case of cuteness, just look at that face! She comes to us from Collie and Sheltie Rescue of SE Virginia. Hugs to you for fostering her, Brent and Jenny! I hope the Sheltie Nation members can find her a home!
Granite State (NH) Sheltie Rescue: Rocky
Check out this sweet boy! Rocky is a 6 year old neutered tri-color Sheltie. He is a wonderful dog with a great temperament. He gets along with other dogs and cats, walks well on a leash, knows sit, down, high-five and give. He loves to sit next to his humans while the TV is on, loves to play with toys and of course, bark! He has not been around a lot of children, but when he has he tends to ignore them. He was in a lot of pain due to a torn ACL in his right rear leg, but came through [...]
MD Sheltie Rescue: Awesome Seniors!
The Northern Chesapeake Sheltie Rescue (located north of Baltimore, MD) has three older Shelties that are in need of good homes. Unfortunately the rescue reports they have a lot of wonderful dogs looking for homes and they are running out of foster parents. If you can't adopt, consider donating or becoming a foster parent. Spread the word to your facebook friends and family! Dwight: Dwight is a gorgeous, healthy 12 year old sable boy with personality plus! He has been fully vetted and groomed. Dwight loves everybody, gets along well with the other Shelties and is fine around cats and [...]
Petunia Fundraiser Update
Last week we featured Petunia, a rescued Sheltie in need of some help. Thanks to all of your generosity, it looks like Petunia will be getting the surgery she desperately needs! She has her surgical consult scheduled for Wednesday, June 6th. In the meantime Petunia's foster dad has shared some recent photos of her out at a local park. He reports that she has regular baths, as she gets smelly - most likely from the tumors. But she also gets along well with her foster brothers and as you can see, is really affectionate with humans. Isn't she amazing? In [...]
What a “Treasure”
Sick, senior or special needs Shelties require extra veterinary care. Often, these dogs are the first to be euthanized at shelters. Rescuing these dogs has become the focus of Sheltie Rescue Alternative, Inc. Treasure is a "furever foster" at the rescue. He was pulled from a kill shelter just before last Thanksgiving at around age 15. Here he is, six months later, doing well and enjoying every day! To inquire about adoptions, volunteering or to make a tax-deductible donation, you can visit their website. Hugs for all you do for these special needs Shelties, Eva!
